Iain Scott

The Wagner Society of Ohio welcomed Iain Scott to its meeting on January 30, 2008 at 7:30 P.M. in the Canton Museum of Art.Iain is a leading expert on opera in Canada. He has been a guest quiz panelist on CBC Radio's "Saturday Afternoon at the Opera" since 1984. At the same time he has been a panelist on "Texaco Opera Quiz" from the Metropolitan in New York. Iain generously extended his presentation to two hours, and the large group attending shared their excitement for an hour after his acclaimed presentation.

 

 

 

Iain is the founder of the Toronto Opera Club and has received the University of Toronto's Outstanding Teacher Award in 1992. He has lectured extensively for Opera America, Opera Guilds International and for Wagner Societies throughout the Americas.

 

 
 
He presented a lecture on Tristan and Isolde as part of the Wagner Society's lecture series.He outlined ten things you need to know about Tristan. He recently taught a course on Tristan at the University of Toronto.
 
 
 
Iain has lectured extensively on Opera and its venues especially the new Four Seasons Opera Centre in Toronto and its Wagner Ring series.

Several WSO members will see the March 14 performance of Tristan at the Met. That performance will be HD simulcast on March 22 and March 23 at Tinseltown theatres. The La Scala production of Tristan can be seen on February 2 and 3 at Cedar-Lee movie theatre in Cleveland.
