The Wagner Society of Ohio is pleased to join the distinguished Wagner Societies of the United States as the tenth Society. We were founded in January of 2007, having first been known as the Wagner Symposium of Canton, Ohio.

As such, we sponsored three symposia, beginning in June 2004, after receiving funding from The Mary Renkert Wendling Foundation. Among our participants have been Perry Lorenzo, Simon Williams, Marc Weiner, Matthew Gurewitsch, Richard Paul Fink, Iain Scott, P. Craig Russell, Jonathan Dean and Jeffrey Buller.

With the success of those events, we were urged to form a society with members and meetings. Our first meeting was October 31, 2007 with Dr. Sven Friedrich, Executive Director of the Richard Wagner Museum and National ARchives in Bayreuth, Germany.

We hold quarterly meetings with special meetings when a once-in-a-lifetime speaker is available. Our newsletter will keep members informed about Wagner related events and opportunities. Trips to Wagner operas have been and continue to be arranged. A special benefit of membership is the camaraderie and excitement of sharing a passion for Richard Wagner's titanic music.
